Arnold Kohn, General Counsel of The Tower Companies since 1984, has concentrated his legal work in the area of complex real estate transactions, including property acquisition, financing, and retail and office leasing, as well as the formation of limited liability companies and partnerships, and Federal and state tax matters pertaining to real estate. Before joining The Tower Companies, he practiced law for twelve years (seven as a partner) with the Washington, D.C. law firm of Arent Fox, LLP after first serving a 3-year stint in the Office of the Judge Advocate General of the Navy.
Mr. Kohn obtained his law degree from Duke University in 1964 and earned an LL.M. (In Taxation) from New York University in 1965. He is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the American Bar Association and its Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, and the American Corporate Counsel Association. Mr. Kohn is also a member of the District of Columbia Bar as well as the Maryland State and Montgomery County (Maryland) Bar Associations.
Mr. Kohn has been active in Montgomery County civic affairs, serving as a Board member (and as Chairman) of Montgomery Hospice and as a Board member (and as Chairman) of the Bethesda Urban Partnership, a public-private partnership established to promote economic development.
