The Blairs

This eco-progressive live-work-play community was one of the largest-ever LEED™ renovations of an existing property in the U.S. and in July 2012, became the First Multi-Family Residential Campus to receive LEED® Gold Certification for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance. The Blairs include the ecologically friendly Blair Towns, the first LEED™ certified apartments in America. Located at the Silver Spring Metro, this 27-acre mixed-use community currently has 1400 residences and 150,000 square feet of office and retail, and will ultimately have 2800 residences and 450,000 square feet of mixed-use development.

The Blairs is a model of environmental responsibility. Its convenient downtown Silver Spring location, proximity to the Metro and MARC station, onsite car-sharing and Zipcar availability, and free VanGo shuttle service allow residents to live car-free. Apartments feature ENERGY STAR appliances and lighting. Wind Power is purchased for 100 percent of the community's energy needs. The Blairs participates in recycling programs, uses only Green certified cleaning supplies, experiments with non-toxic fertilizers, uses electric vehicles for leasing and maintenance, offers tenant education programs and encourages residents to 'live like you green it' with detailed information guides for cleaner, greener living on its website.

The Blairs also offers tenants an array of Lifestyle Programs to educate, engage and energize residents for healthy and carbon-free living. To learn more, visit: Blair Apartments Newsletter
